Extreme mountain biking is not that different from ordinary mountain biking; only one goes higher up on steeper topography over rough and dangerous mountain roads. To go for this extreme sport you need to be in good shape as it will take a toll on your physical strength. Extreme mountain biking is a physically taxing sport and is not suitable for those people who have chronic ailments like asthma, hypertension and other types of diseases that can hinder the physical endurance of a person. Brakes You Need For Downhill Racing

Riders who have been waiting since the early 90's to be in the first downhill dash were still with their old mountain bikes wearing jeans and a long-sleeve shirt. With only one new add-on, the coaster brake, these people are set to try out an entirely new thrill. Riders on the world circuit have bikes which are as lightweight as possible and they have front and rear shocks, disc brakes and air-sprung suspension forks. Padded shorts or pants should also be worn, or shin and knee guards. Riders should stick to designated mountain bike trails away from horses and walkers. Horses are easily startled and footpaths often become crowded with hikers, making riding at speed highly dangerous .

Downhill Racing

Downhill races are becoming more popular and in many ways mountain bike tricks are on par with motocross. Could this be where mountain biking is heading? Downhill biking , as its name implies is all about riding down steep slopes while getting over obstacles, drops and sharp turn in maximum speed. Over the years, many downhill mountain biking events and competitions have been established all over the world. Downhill fire trails and off-road tracks can be used by less experienced riders, as they are usually wide enough, and the slopes gentle enough. More experienced riders might try steeper tracks, tougher terrain, or single tracks, which are narrow trails only wide enough for one bike.
